Using facebook to boost trek america's social reach

Trek America appointed us to fulfill a clear brief: produce an innovative social experience to engage with potential Trekkers. We created a pioneering Facebook application that allowed users to add their friends to a bus image and post onto their wall with the hope of winning a trek across the USA with seven of their Facebook friends. Their friends were automatically tagged so they could join in the fun and share the experience to their own friends. The campaign went viral with tens of thousands of entrants and a lucky 8 winners were sent off across the states! So successful was the campaign that Trek America ran it each season for three consecutive years, each time receiving a massive return on investment.

We were also very proud that the application was awarded Best Low Budget Campaign at the Northern Marketing Society Awards 2011. Further to this the app was congratulated on its understanding of the target audience and creative implementation. Here’s a bit more about how it works.
