We have been working in partnership with Creative Virtual (and Kiwilogic UK before that) for about 6 years developing avatars (Lingubots) for self help applications on the web.
We have always battled against general expectations of delivering the holy grail in artificial intelligence, and even though we were one of the first to develop a text to speech chatterbot were not able to get a commercial product together.
The world has now become more interested in the concept of humanoid self help chatterbots and so we have resurrected the bot development programme.
